The 2008 Universities Rugby League World Cup has been boosted by the confirmed attendance of teams from Great Britain and Ireland.
England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland will all compete in their sixth tournament since Great Britain was broken up at the Tertiary level, joining tournament hosts Australia and defending Tertiary champions, New Zealand in the Queensland based World Cup.
After a relatively average performance in the 2005 World Cup, where only England made the finals, the European sides are expected to put up a serious challenge for the overall champions mantle, with all four nations enjoying a boost in player numbers over the past three seasons.
The six confirmed nations will be joined by between two to four more nations for the eventual tournament which will be hosted from July 4 – 19.
