The 2009 New South Wales Tertiary Student Rugby League
promises to be one of the biggest in years with the confirmation that the Royal
Australian Navy will be entering a team for the new season.
The Navy represents the first time a team from the
Australian Defence Forces have competed in the league since the Royal
Australian Air force participated in the early 90’s.
To be based out of Sydney,
the Royal Australian Navy Titans will add a new dimension to the NSW Tertiary
League, appealing to a new group of players and helping to continue to raise
the standard and diversity of the amateur league.
The joining of the Navy means that at least 11 clubs will
take part in the 2009 NSW Tertiary Student Rugby League competition, with
applications still open for additional sides to join.
