The second series of semi finals will be played this Saturday 28 August at Norford Park, will plenty on line for all teams involved.
The match between 1st Division Minor Premiers Norwest/Nirimba Polecats and West Sydney Blues is the headline act at 3.00pm, the winner of course earning a place in the September 11 Grand Final. Both teams have been neck and neck on the ladder all season with only a struck match between them. The Polecats have prevailed over the Blues in the Comp but finals footy is a different ball game and it’s anyone’s guess who will be first in on 911 (sound ominous doesn’t it).
At 2.30pm a battered and bruised Sydney Uni face Lewisham Old Boys/ACU in the 1st Division Minor Semi Final and whilst they had their chances last week against the Blues, Sydney Uni face an uphill battle against a Lewisham side that has had all the momentum going into the finals series.
The Cumberland College Beavers have been the form team in 2nd Division all year, finishing Minor Premiers, but the reigning premiers CSU Bathurst Mungoes know what finals footy is all about. The boys from the west won’t want to make any more trips to the smoke than they have to and will be hoping they only need to book a bus for the one trip in a fortnight. Their Major Semi Final kicks off at 1.30pm.
Finally its do or die for the Newcastle Sea Horses and the ANU Grizzlies when they clash in their Minor Semi Final at 1.00pm. The Grizzlies upset their Capital City colleagues last week down in Canberra but away from home it remains to be seen if they can continue that form. The Sea Horses will be smarting after its close loss to the Mungoes last week and no doubt will be doing all they can to give the new boys from ANU a finals lesson.
Don’t forget, Preliminary Finals next week 4 Sept at Norford Park and Grand Finals 11 Sept at McCredie Oval Guildford.
