With all teams now having played each other once, Round 6 sees the start of the second series of matches in both divisions.
Match of the round is out at Kellyville Park where last year’s Division 1 grand finalists Tafe WS Polecats and UTS Tigers clash. Although the Polecats are undefeated, the Tigers have been in top form so it should be a cracker of a match. Plenty of interest too in the 2nds, with both teams also in good form.
The Sydney Uni Lions will host Cumberland College Beavers at Marrickville Park and with the Lions coming off a big win last round and the home ground advantage, they could prove to be too strong for the Beavers. Unfortunately the Beavers has forfeited the 2nds, so now only one match on the programme.
ACU have to split its resources, with the firsts taking on the West Syd U Ducks at Bankstown Campus whilst the 2nds travel to Canberra to face the Uni of Canberra Grizzlies. The Ducks, winless at completion of the first series of matches, will be looking to get off the canvass and with ACU away from home and all alone, they couldn’t find a more opportune time. No doubt buoyed by its first win of the season last round, the ACU 2nds will nevertheless find the going tough down in the capital up against the undefeated Grizzlies.
Both competitions go into recess for a week after this round to make way for the annual City Vs Country match, to be played at North Sydney Oval on Sunday 15 May, kick off 1.00pm.
