Round 18 Preview, Saturday 16 August 2014

The penultimate round of the regular competitions and whilst the top spot in both divisions looks settled, still plenty of jostling for position in the final four for many teams.

UTS Tigers host Sydney Uni Lions in both divisions at Blackmore Oval. In 1sts both teams are still in a tussle for the all-important 2nd place, with the Tigers holding the edge but a win to the Lions could make it possible for them to swap positions. In 2nds the Tigers must win to cement a finals place.

A big task for the Norwest Polecats, with both teams still holding onto slender finals hopes, as they have to split resources to each play their respective comp. leaders. The Polecats 1sts face Sydney Trains at Middleton Park and the 2nds are down the road at Bankstown Campus against the might of the UWS Ducks.

The ADFA Knights also have to split its resources with the 1sts traveling to Sydney to play Cumberland Beavers at Ollie Webb Reserve and its 2nds, staying in the Capital, up against ANU Grizzlies at ANU North Oval. It’s a critical game for the Beavers, they need a win to hold onto 4th place, whilst the winless Knights 2nds might find the going too tough against a Grizzlies side still smarting from a surprise loss last round.

Sydney Trains have the bye in 2nd Division.
