Round 14 Preview, Saturday 19 July 2014

After a break last week for the annual Tertiary/Uni Challenge Cup match, it’s back to business for Round 14 this Saturday.
Down in the ACT the ADFA Knights 1sts will be hoping to keep their recent winning run going when they host Cumberland Beavers at Addison Oval. The Beavers too are coming off a win last round so should be great clash. Of course it could be argued there will be even greater interest in the earlier match at Addison in the 2nd Division game, where the Knights play local rivals ANU Grizzlies. On paper it looks like it could be a one-sided affair, with the Grizzlies at the top of the ladder and the home team at the bottom, but as they say, anything can happen in a game of footy.
Back in Sydney and 1st Division match of the day at Blackmore Oval sees UTS Tigers up against Sydney Uni Lions, each second and third on the ladder respectively. The Lions have hit a bit of a form slump of late but a win over the home team will see them inch closer to toppling the Tigers from second spot. The Tigers 2nds need a win to keep them in the finals chase and following their win over the Ducks last round confidence should be high.
The Sydney Trains have to do the splits this round with the 1sts out at Kellyville Oval against Norwest Polecats and their 2nds at Bankstown Campus playing comp leaders UWS Ducks. The Polecats desperately need a win over the comp leaders to keep in touch with a final four place and have the advantage of the home ground and plenty of players on hand with their 2nds having a bye. The Ducks in 2nds will be keen to make amends for their first loss of the season last round, so the Trains could be in for a tough time.
