The big day of the season is here and four teams face off this Saturday for their grand final showdown.
In First Division the Norwest/Nirimba Polecats clash with Minor Premiers UTS Tigers for a replay of the Major Semi Final where the Polecats managed a last gasp 22-20 win against the previously undefeated Tigers. The Tigers went into that match outright favourites, but despite some glimpses of the form that saw them conquer all before them in the season proper, lack of discipline on a number of occasions let the Polecats back into the match and to eventually take the honours.
The Sydney Uni Lions earned its place in the Final Qualifier against the Tigers with a hard fought 32-14 win over the Uni of Canberra Grizzlies but were no match for the wounded Tigers in the Preliminary Final, out to avenge their only loss of the season the week prior against the Polecats. Despite a spirited effort by the boys from Sydney Uni, the Tigers were just too strong for the Lions, earning their place in the Grand Final with an impressive 52-0 win.
The Second Division Grand Final sees Minor Premiers UTS Tigers up against the Cumberland Beavers. On their road to the Grand Final the Tigers were impressive in its 30-20 win over the Norwest/Nirimba Polecats in the Major Semi Final , whilst the Beavers forced its way into the big show after a 48-18 win over Sydney Uni in the Minor Semi Final and then snatched a last second field goal to win the Preliminary Final against the Polecats 23-22.
So Saturday 12 September is the day, St Marys Stadium the venue and the action starts at 1.00pm for the 2nd Division Grand Final – UTS Vs Cumberland, and 3.00pm for 1st Division – Norwest Vs UTS
